Dying a Rubiks Cube

Posted 2021/04/24 by Tom Fasano

One time I took a 7x7 v-cube and took the odd pieces and dyed them black and left the even pieces white.

It gave this cool checker pattern design:

vcube

Of course, now there’s only one permutation, but it’s more of a neat keepsake I can cherish rather than a mass manufactured puzzle I wouldn’t even bother to solve in the first place.

Anyways, there’s probably better resources than here to explain how to die plastic, but I just wanted to share a cool project I did a long time ago out of pure boredom and spontaneous creativity.
